Chartered in 1969, the Rotaract Club of Colombo is the first Rotaract Club to be established in Sri Lanka and has a history of appreciated community service and professional development spanning 40 years. Operating within the family of the international Rotary movement, the Rotaract club of Colombo is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colombo.

Rotaract is a movement found worldwide for young men and women aged between 18 to 30 years who believe they can make a difference by serving their communities. Rotaract clubs are usually community or university-based and sponsored by a local Rotary club, making them true ‘partners in service’ and key members of the Rotary family. The Rotaract movement encompasses all facets of life with 4 main avenues of service; namely, Community Service, Professional Development, International Understanding and Club Service.

Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment their knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, but also address the physical and social needs of their communities while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service. As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 8,000 Rotaract clubs in 163 countries and geographic areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
